Review - My Super Ex Girlfriend
This's my flixster review, but since this forum needs population anyway..
Flixster review - Everyone's had a painful parting of the ways with a romantic partner. We pick up the pieces and move on. But for one New York guy, it's not going to be so easy. When he breaks up with his girlfriend, ...(read more )he discovers his ex is actually the reluctant superhero, G-Girl. A scorned woman, she unleashes her super powers to humiliate and torment him. The synopsis doesn't do justice to this film, which is not only original, but also really funny, in some portions. While the premise may sound odd, this movie was paced to good effect, and a fun, if not particularly mentally-challenging, romp. It was refreshing to see Uma Thurman in this role - considering the last time I saw her was in the heavy Kill Bill series. But she does carries off the slightly lost-her-marbles "heroine" with great panache. Ann Farris is sweet (well, and pretty) while Luke Wilson does the confused man thing very well. It was amusing to see that this movie was actually pretty feminist - there's even a line - "if i had the powers, you may learn to love me as i have always loved you." that really made me think of the changes that've occurred in gender roles. Oh and if you've seen the ending in the credits, do tell me what happened. I missed it.
