 Hijo de la Luna
It means 'Son of the Moon'. It's a beautiful song with a beautiful story. Thought I'd just post it here.
Foolish is he who doesn't understand: A legend tells of a gypsy woman Who pleaded with the moon until dawn. Weeping, she begged At the break of dawn To marry a gypsy man.
"You'll have your man, tawny skin," Said the full moon from the sky. "But in return I want the first child That you have with him. Because she who sacrifices her child So that she is not alone, Isn't likely to love it very much."
Chorus: Moon, you want to be mother, But you cannot find a love Who makes you a woman. Tell me, silver moon, What you intend to do With a child of flesh. A-ha-ha, a-ha-ha, Son of the moon.
From a cinnamon-skinned father A son was born, White as the back of an ermine, With grey eyes instead of olive -- Moon's albino child. "Damn his appearance! This is not a gipsy man's son And I will not put up with that."
Chorus
Believing he was dishonoured, The gypsy went to his wife, A knife in his hand. "Whose son is this? You've certainly fooled me!" And he wounded her mortally. Then he went to the woodlands With the child in his arms And left it behind there.
Chorus
And the nights the moon is full It is because the child Is in a good mood. And if the child cries, The moon wanes To make it a cradle. And if the child cries, The moon wanes To make it a cradle.
Isn't it a wonderful story? Just like a fairy tale...

Whoa...very interesting. It's quite sad, though...But I can't imagine the music/visualise it properly! Do you have it anywhere I can possibly listen to it or something?

Sarah Brightman doesn't sound like her usual self! It's sounds...thinner than usual. And you didn't say it was not in English, though I don't mind I listen to a lot of songs I need the lyrics to sing along to, and which I don't understand but still Speaking of lyrics, do you have the original? I could find it, but I feel lazy.. One more non-english song that I don't understand I can learn *grins* Beautiful. Kinda haunting. Gackt uses the bells in his music too, and the flutes are nice Man it's not a-ha-ha! It's ahhhh, ahhhh....gosh. I thought she was gonna laugh there or sth. (doesn't that spoil the mood, heh)

Yeah! I think she's trying to be more 'pop' or something. -shrug- Once a sop, always a sop, I say. Tsk... lazy lazy. Just search for the title and you'll get the lyrics, but oh well...
Me has engañado fijo."
I find it difficult trying to memorize the lyrics because it sounds really different from how it's spelled.

Didn't I give you one? *eyeballs* mutters.
Filk is to songs what fanfic is to writing pieces. At least I think. Though some are probably performed by Lackey and friends...remember those I let you listen to? That's Misty filk..

Filk?! FILK?! What a terribly inelegant word! -acts supercilious- Haha no kidding... Ok. In what way does that sound like filk. Then again, since I've only ever heard M. Lackey filk... -shrug-
No, you didn't give me one...

I did. *glowers* "Jo Phay has accepted your invitation to Gmail and has chosen the brand new address purloined.mortality@gmail.com. Jo's new address has been automatically added to your contact list so you can stay in touch with Gmail. " Hur hur. A lot of Misty filk are story based. Which you don't see much nowadays, really..and it's just the general tone, length, repetition, I guess.

Ooooops. Oh so THAT'S my username. Haha. Yeah. Come to think of it, that's the bizarre/romantic/tragic style Lackey (sometimes) gets just right. I'm thinking of writing a story based on that. I just love this song! Can't get enough of it... Isn't it weird that the moon is commonly seen as 'female' and the sun as 'male'? I mean, this happens in most cultures, and I don't think they were copied from other societies or anything, because the emergence of the idea happened either consecutively or in cultures too far away to have copied...

Personally I think the story line is not as good as some of Misty's, but I'm biased And yes, I do. Basically all of them. Because Gmail has, after all, 1Gig of space. Plus it has a search engine so I can search for mails. See how useful it is? *hinthint* Actually not true. In german, sun is die Sonne and moon is der Mond -- ie the sun is feminine, the moon is masculine. I suppose it has to do with the yinyang ideas...sun representing strength and all and moon representing softness, darkness..

I think maybe it's because this is, after all, just a 4 minute song. There are only so many nuances you can cram in. Maybe if it were fleshed out, given a few twists... Ahah! Is that so? Do you know any Sun/Moon German myths...?

Er, no. Germanic myths are weird lar. They're basically Norse mythology, if I'm not wrong. Involves the mother cow and Nilfheim and whateverheim and basically a very dark mood...though I've always had the impression Aztec mythology was the darkest. I could go and check for you, but I'm sure you'll understand when I say I have quite enough of German myths liao Actually 4 mins is quite long what..I'm talking about storyline, not about fleshing eh. Speaking of flashing I still think it's sweet for Misty's friends to write continuations to her song (Lammas Night), though admittedly it was late (for her birthday or something?) and some were downright weird...
