Post Gundams and eggs...
Don't worry about the title. I don't know where it originally came from, but now that I do, it works as a good ice breaker. I think.

Anyways, my name's Tim. You can call me anything you want to (Gabe, Gabriel, Tim, Master of the Univers, etc), as long as it isn't Napolean. ... I hate that movie...

Anyways, I've looked over most of the site (I think), and its really good. The only other site I've seen that has this much detail in it is Desert Realm (where I found the link to this site), which I hold in high esteem. I hope that as soon as I get a better feel for this place, I'll be able to RP here.

And if you've been to DR, I'm Malachi.

I've been trying to start writing a book, and so far I've had a mostly good feeling about it. And if you want to talk to me on AIM or MSN, tell me that you're from this site at the beginning, or else I'll get really confused and stuff.

Heyla Gabriel! Welcome, welcome :)

Devon: *stops by at jenn's command to flourish a bow, then dances off to some other Kalla business.*

Well, busy guy, that Devon. *smiles slightly* Thank you, but I'm afraid we're nowhere as big as Desert Realm. We've only started, what, two? three? weeks ago? And though I'm now a bit hopeful that Chois:2R2M won't die stillborn, you never know. (Me, the eternal pessimist. Sigh.)

I wandered around Desert Realm for a while, but it was a bit overwhelming so I gave up. And quite a few of the RPGs weren't what I was looking for -- that is, seriously writing and no stats based RPGs.

That's pretty interesting..if I may, what's your book about? Or is it a secret 'til release? ;)

The book is about... well, for now its under wraps. So much possible intruige and plot twists and stereotype breakage that I don't want to dissapoint the readers if it doesn't turn out as good as I'm hoping it will.

But, its a fantasy involving the epic struggle between humans, demons, angels, and yet more humans. With a little bit of magic thrown in.

And, as for DR's massiveness, it was a lot different a year ago. But it still had a lot of stuff back then.

Um... I was going to type something, and then I forgot what... oh well. I'll put it up if I ever remember it.

That sounds pretty interesting. I always enjoy reading about magic :) Though my pet favourite is music and magic, I can't find enough books with that theme, so I make do with regular magic

Alright, in any case then, ganbatte! Good luck with your book :D

(On a side note, I just found the actual character applications... That'll help some)
Ok, since you insist. This is going to be hard... Oh well. Hey! I just got a new plot idea by doing this. That rocks.

Here's the background stuff:
Its been centuries since the War of Righteousness. No one still alive can remember it, and the legends about it are so twisted and unreliable that some have even said that the demons won.
The angels have set up a series of fortified castles at the edge of the demon lands, so as to enforce the exile that has kept them away from the world for the past centuries after the war.
The Aarkan Empire has taken the entire northern portion of the world, and now has its sights set on Gol, the only other human country it borders. Gol has been actively raising ever-growing armies to fight off the Aarkan hordes; both countries forgetting the angel and demon conflict in the midst of their struggle for power.

Now... as for the actual plot, I've been trying to think of what I can give you that isn't going to ruin the plot twists... And I have to admit that I haven't come up with how I get the characters connected together (and not killing each other), and then on to the plot.

Do you mean you found Devon & Saraswathi's profiles or the actual "fill in the blanks" application? If you haven't found the profiles you might want to read them, we're looking for something like that ;)

It sounds pretty cool, though I admit the first impression I had was "strategy game setting!" What with fortified castles and armies and attacking the country that borders you..:) How about possibly telling us a little about the characters? ;) When you have angels and demons in the story it's bound to get interesting, yeah?

Sounds good! What of the plot though? Heh I don't personally mind reading about characters killing each other. Adds a lot of drama that way...

First off, I found the filled out applications of someone (Anthony's mother). And then I found the actual blank profile for each of the races.

Ok. The characters are a little bit more complicated, because what I have saved on my computer about them gives away much of the twisting and turning of the plot.
(I just realized that I can change around some stuff from one of my unfinished short stories to be Terry and Gabriel)
Note: I do not consider myself to be the same as Gabriel from the book. I just thought that it was a cool name. I am NOT like him.

Gabriel is a human mage who has based his entire life on getting high off of magic. He'll put magic before anything else in his life (but he's smart enough not to sacrifice his life for it. That'd be just plain stupid). He was born in the Aarkan Empire, near the border of the demon lands. He feels no great bond to any country or racial group, and his only friend is Terry. Gabriel has a deep-lying hatred for any wasting of magic (even if its his own), but has nothing against using too much when destroying your enemies. He is afraid of cats, not deathly afraid, but he gets nervous and drymouthed around them. He considers them to be entities who waste magic every moment of their waking lives (their sleeping ones, too). That's his explanation for how they have 9 lives.

Terry is a human from the Aarkan Empire who likes to aquire ancient relics (I'm trying to remember how Locke from FF3 put it. That's exactly how he would talk about himself). He grew up in the same city as Gabriel, and is the mage's only friend. Terry has a knack for making people not want to kill other people (if both sides will listen to reason), and is a good mediator. He tends to appear gloomy around people (especially Gabriel), but its actually the way that he expresses his optimism. He will do anything he can to keep a companion from being killed. He likes being in fetid swamps with swarms of mosquitoes, although he's never told anyone why.

Julius is an angel who serves his superiors by hunting down demons. He is very prideful, especially around the "inferior" humans, and tends to think of all non-angels as being weak and susceptible to evil. He is very adamant in his thinking that evil should be destroyed, and good helped along in any way possible. He is actually rather pessimistic about the chances of good winning, because he knows that evil will resort to any means necessary to triumph. He actively analyzes everyone he fights, to try and find the person's motivation for going against the good of the world. He will never try to analyze his superiors unless something out of the ordinary happens, because of the training he's had.

Maya is another angel, and considers herself to be Julius' closest friend. It is readily apparent that she doesn't just want to be his friend, but she's too shy to talk openly about it with him. Maya, like Julius, thinks about everything in terms of black and white. But she considers humans to be predominantly good, and demons to all be completely evil. It has never crossed her mind that an angel could ever do anything even remotely bad. She doesn't have Julius' habit of analyzing her enemies, and tends to just find out if they're bad (or if they're a demon), and then attacks. She is afraid of change. That is one of the fears that keeps her from expressing her feelings to Julius. She thinks that if there's any change in the world, or in any place at all, it will give the demons a better grip on the world.

Victor is an angel, but unlike Julius and Maya, he thinks in terms of grey (or is it gray?). As such, he wasn't put into the field of fighting, and only has rudimentary knowledge of combat. He is pessimistic about his life; the drudgery of being a scribe wears on him by the minute. Of the three angels, he is the most open-minded about good and evil, and life in general. Unlike all other angels, Victor beleives in reincarnation. He sometimes considers demons to just be humans that have done evil in their past life, and angels just humans that have done good in their past life, but at other times thinks that its actually the other way around. His veiws on the world are flimsy, at best, and are subject to frequent change. He is indecisive about important decisions, but quickly decides on insignificant things by choosing the second option (like if he's wondering what to eat between meat and fish, he'll choose fish because he thought of it second).

I made the countries be at odds with each other to add tension and possibly for a second book in the same world that doesn't include demons or angels at all. There's also a third country that I haven't named or defined at all, and there's a wasteland with tribes of human nomads that speak the demon tongue. There are three languages: the demon tongue (or low language), english (or common language), and angelic (or high language). Most humans speak english, angels speak angelic (but many are trained in english and low), and demons are thought to speak low language, but its been so long that no human or angel really knows.

Now, the plot... That's going to be hard to put into words. Well, this book is going to focus on the 5 characters I mentioned above, and the conflict between angels and demons. The conflict between Gol and the Aarkan Empire will be a part of it, but it will mostly be background effects rather than the main attraction.

Anthony's mother is Sara. Yep. :D

Ok, just one question. Does the story take place in an alternate Earth or something like that? If not, why is English used as a language at all? Haha I'm sorry I realise this isn't an inconsequential point, but such things matter to me for some weird reason.

Its just another planet. And english just because I don't know enough german to write in that, and no one other than me can read either high or low language (and I still have dificulty with that). I guess it could be called middle language; that would fit in with the high and low.

My browser does that to me all the time, heh.. Why don't you give it a fancy name? ;) English just sounds so..mundane. Unlike Tolkien (who went and worked out the grammar and all of elvish...*boggles*), most writers nowadays just write the book in English, but say in dialogue sections that the characters are speaking another language, say, Tayledras (Mercedes Lackey ;)) or something (but it's auto translated to English in the book). If they wanna add flavour, they just inject some of their own made up phrases sometimes. :D

I'm mentioning this because we're gonna use Sefeln the lazy way. (If you're applying for a choi'sir'ee, I hope you know what this is. *grins* *hinthint*)

GERMAN! Do you speak/write German? :D

I can halfway speak german. I'm in the second year of the class (although the teacher I had for 1 and a half semesters was incompetent). I write it better than I speak it, but noone can read my handwriting...

... It's really late right now. And I have the first day of school after spring break (plus a teacher inservice day) tomorrow. Since I already took my contacts out, I'll be going to sleep really soon. Good night everyone.

AHH!! Can I speak German with you? *grins* Even though I'm currently very very irritated with the stupid german coursework I have to undertake...ok I'll pounce on you if I see you online (the likelihood is slim, but well).

Have fun on the first day of school! (I suppose that's today :))
