 Cristofori's Dream!!!
I took away the Suggestions board because it was stagnating, and put this in Feel free to talk about whatever music, modern, classical, oldies, you enjoy. Alright. Cristofori's Dream. Cristofori's Dream is my absolute favourite song! I've written about it twice, and I love both attempts. (Isn't it great to love your own work ) In any case, it's a piano piece which you can hear at Jason's site, here. Jason is a character of mine, in case you were wondering. But he hasn't got to play much yet Ah well. Posting issues. I bought the score for Cristofori's Dream in a book with quite a few other nice songs, but Cristofori's Dream is the nicest! *gushes* The beauty in its simplicity is wonderful, and I'm working to memorise it so I can play it blindfolded *smiles slightly*

Ah Cristofori's Dream... It's always been a special song to me, because one of my best friends used to play it to me all the time. We'd sit at the piano and she'd play it... I miss her. I always think it'll be perfect for a pas de deux as well... too bad I can't dance, nor do I know any ballet dancers to experiment on.

What the -questionmark- is a pas de deux?
Aww that's so romantic...I mean, the whole playing the piano, someone listening to you thing..or someone playing the piano and me listening to him/her thing..or playing with someone and making music...*drifts away*

Um, basically a dance for two people. Like a duet, only it's dance instead of vocalizing.
Haha isn't it, though?

Where could I get a copy of the score? Maybe I could get off my butt and start playing the piano again. Its been a LONG time since I actually played the piano. Playing mallets in percussion class at school isn't the same at all.
Edit: I found (and ordered) a copy of the music. I'm happy(er) now.

Lol! I was gonna set up a post reviewing the contents of my book but since you've gotten the score... Just curious, where did you get it off of? AHA. *gets dreamy thinking about Deana and Devon doing Pas De Deuxes...or maybe not.* I better review my dance knowledge, if I'm gonna be playing two dancers...not that Jason will do anything associated with dancing in that alley of his, but well.

I got it from... musicnotes.com. And I have a feeling that I won't be able to play anything in it for a LONG time. I have trouble learning music when I'm not being forced to...

I know! But somehow I think Cristofori's Dream is a little hard to dance to...
Does anyone know the story behind the song? Fiona once said something about it being written for someone who died (the composer's son, I think).

Oh wow. It's US$5 bucks..yeah the first page looks like the same one I have, though my book is a collection with other songs and about S$12 (which translates to something like 7 US bucks..).
I disagree. (Considering I miniwrote a dance for Jason's app for Cristofori's Dream..) Why would you think it's hard to dance to? So many interpretations!

' "Cristofori's Dream" is about the inventor of the piano, Bartolomeo Cristofori, who was a harpsichord builder. As the story David tells goes, Cristofori was working very late in his shop one night, and fell asleep at his workbench. He had a dream of seeing his new invention going through its development all the way to becoming a concert grand piano, and the song ends with the piano turning back into a child's toy or music box. '
From the Amazon site, supposedly said by David Lanz..I'm not sure about the composer's son thing..
