Story so far:
Stephen is a historian specializing in 14th century English customs and architecture. Was working on a dig site on the grounds of a small university in Southwestern England. His colleague, Professor Narayanan, invited him home for dinner and Stephen met his daughter, Sara.

They fell in love. But a couple of months into the relationship Stephen disappeared.

The present:
Stephen was actually captured by Savants. What complicates matters is that Sara is now a Savant (in Switzerland, so Stephen's got to be held elsewhere) AND they have a seven-year-old son, Anthony, who just happens to be a Latent. Sara never got a chance to tell Stephen about their kid.

Actually, elsewhere can mean anywhere in Switzerland, because the Choi'sir'ee are based in the region. France -- Switzerland, the area around there. They're not moving to any place else, and don't plan to, either. But some Savants do have private research facilities, which the Choi'sir'ee allow as long as reports about what they're doing are filed regularly.
